The Itinerary

Aswan day tour from Luxor

Your journey begins at 6:00 AM with a pickup from your hotel or Nile Cruise in Luxor by a licensed tour guide, followed by a comfortable drive south in a private air-conditioned vehicle toward Edfu.

Your first stop is the magnificent Temple of Horus in Edfu, located on the west bank of the Nile about an hour from Luxor. Known in Greco-Roman times as Apollonopolis Magna after its chief deity Horus-Apollo, this is one of the best-preserved temples in all of Egypt. Built during the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BCE, the site is dedicated to the falcon god Horus, featuring intricate wall inscriptions that provide invaluable insight into the language, mythology, and religious practices of ancient Egypt.

Next, continue your drive south to Kom Ombo to explore the Temple of Kom Ombo. Built during the Ptolemaic dynasty with later Roman additions, this site is uniquely famous for its unusual double design. Every feature—including the courts, halls, sanctuaries, and rooms—is perfectly duplicated for two distinct sets of gods. The southern half is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, deity of fertility and creator of the world, alongside Hathor and Khonsu.

After exploring Kom Ombo, travel onward to Aswan and stop at a local restaurant for an included lunch.

Following lunch, resume your tour with a visit to the Philae Temple, an ancient Egyptian complex relocated to Agilkia Island in Lake Nasser near the Nile’s First Cataract to protect it from rising waters. Conclude your sightseeing with a stop at the Aswan High Dam, an engineering marvel constructed in 1961 under Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser.

Around 3:00 PM, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Luxor—or dropped off at a hotel in Aswan if you plan to extend your stay there.

Note: During the booking process, please provide a clear photo/copy of your passport to complete your reservation.
